Important note for users of Apple Watch & Siri
Revere is undergoing a big upgrade in August 2024 which may affect some users.
Who is this post for
This post is for people who use Apple Watch and Siri with Revere.
Things to know
An upcoming update of Revere in August 2024 will temporarily not include Siri support for adding notes or an Apple Watch app. These features will be added back in the future.
Key points
If you update to the new Revere (v4.0+), notes made on your Apple Watch will not appear in Revere. If you wish to continue using the Apple Watch app, don’t upgrade to the New Revere.
The new version of Revere doesn’t include Siri functionality. It will be added back in the future using Apple Intelligence.
Why is this happening
The New Revere is built on Apple’s newest programming language and frameworks. The Siri and Apple Watch functionality also need to be rebuilt in these, taking time. With all the improvements across the whole app ready, I decided there was enough benefit getting it into peoples’ hands sooner, even though it was missing Siri and the Watch.
Speed of new feature development are a trade-off with apps that have small teams like Revere, but the benefit is a unique, personal app larger companies aren’t interested in creating.
Going forward
The New Revere represents a renewed commitment to the app. You can expect many more features, improvements, and a better day-to-day experience using the app going forward.
